Mommy can we go to McDonalds....

Yeppie! Mcdonalds has taken away the Super Size selection of their menu and gave us another way to get fat. Order More food, then Sit and play Games, Screw the Play area I want to play me DS.
Apperently all the DS user has to do is bring his/her DS and a Wi-Fi-enabled game into a Wayport-enabled McDonald's, the user simply launches the game in Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection mode. No setup is required. Maybe a good thing, maybe not.. How hard is it, or I should say, How soon? will be used for laptops and psp's to use the WiFi connection. Im sure sooner than McDonalds and Nintendo wants.

The Fabulous goodness of FireFox Extensions..

While at home this weekend, I updated my FireFox with the extensions I use here at work and found a few additional ones I should post about.

FasterFoxHere They Are:
My favorite so far out of this bunch has to be the Mouse Gestures. This extension is one of the best so far. This is how it works. All this is the default setup for the MouseGestures. Right Click and Hold then Draw a Line From Top to Bottom. This would open a new window. To Open a New Tab, simply draw a line from Bottom to top. Go to the Previous page, Draw a horizontal line from to the Left, Move Foward a page Draw a horizontal line to the Right. Duplicate Tab draw a line Down then Up then back Down. Move to a different tab Up then Left, or Up then Right. Check a lil demo I made for ya. [ View ] You can also check out some more screen captures here.

I also Can not forget the Swedish Chef! This extension allows the Swedish chef to translate the site for you.

Alarm Clock Puzzle...

Karen would love me to have this, Because I would actually have to wake up to Snooze or turn the damn thing off. I will admit, Im lazy and I will set the alarm for 5:30am just to wake up at 630. Yes, I hit the snooze that often.

What the Alarm clock does is fire the pieces in to the air, and then makes its wonderful soothing sound until you put the pieces back in again.

Check it out here, Or even buy it: [ Link ]

Honestly...

Whats the point to having a Network Admin. at your work if the network administrator doesn't have access to everything he needs. Seriously, Why am I here then. I need full access to everything, So when an employee has an issue with something I'm able to fully help them out. I shouldn't have to tell them, "[Wuh-oh] I can't do that, you'll have to call Mr. Wonderful for this." Believe it or not there are serveral things here that I do not have access to, that I should have access to. Thus is amazing to me why I do not have access to these things. One of which the General Sales Manager does, and I don't. He is in Sales, I am the Companies Network & Systems Adimistrator, (or at least I thought I was) To my knowledge I should have the access to setting up user accounts and removing them for certain websites that service uses and NOT Sales. So why can I not have this access? What am I going to do, Bring the company down? why would I. If I realyl wanted too there are other ways in doing this, And If I really wanted to I can have access to these things, but if they see I use them they, I should say Mr. wonderfull will have a shit fit. He no longer works down here, so why does he still have his lil grubby hand here. The place already runs better than when he was here. Our third party companies servers' and systems don't here from us, and if they do its because something on their end and not ours. I don't hear bad things about what I do here nor do I hear that things suck around here because of me. If thats the word then I would like to know, but I have not been told otherwise. I just don't understand this concept of his of keeping me out of these things. To tell you the truth, when I first started here I wasn't shown anything but a few small things. In fact On January 1 there was a virus that got into the system, in which I figured out what and when and how to fix it. However, I was not told about a certain pc that seemed to be the culprit (wow, I cant believe I just used that word), so after cleaning every pc in the this place it hit again, WTF I thought. So then I ask, I need to know where Every pc is in this place and I went out on a hunt and found it and stoped it. Would have been nice to know about this lil guy because I had to go and clean the place over again just to be safe. And Not even a Thanks Chad, or Good Job, Nice Work or even a pat on the ass with a "Good Game!". And I still work here, Jesus I need a new employer.

Take me to a Place where I haven't been there once.

Ok, so I will stop and go to bed now and yet again suffer from Lack of insomnia.

...

Why do places that are open 24 hours have "OPEN" signs?

You Know...

I was asked the other day a not so perplexing question.

Why do Drive through ATM machines have Braile on them?

Because the Drive-through ATM machines are the Same machines as Regular WalkUp ATM machines.

What I want to know is How do the dogs know what an ATM machine is.

...

I really think soap shouldn't taste like strawberries or any other fruit for that matter. It's very misleading.

What if ... ????

What if this was my Batman cup and the Cup I got that had batman on it was really The Incredible Hulk.

Someone has some explaining to do.

What If... ????

What if I was really this Alien that was sent here to do alot of things and then I got side tracked and thought I was an abnormal human with a dog that had bees in its mouth so when it barks it shoots bees out of its mouth.

And If so how come I can't get any honey from the bees?

How Come... ???

How come Tomorrow never gets here but today is always here and yesterday I missed?

...

Has your brain ever hurt when you talk to yourself, Er Think. Because Sometimes It does for me, espesically when I bang in against something.

So.. I ahhh...

Walked in to this Bar the other day, and the bar tender says "Hey Watch out for that..."

Another Great Reason Why Squirrels Kick Ass.

Simply Hired.com - Job Search website...

I stumbled upon this site through nwfusion.com. Seems to be a promising site. I've done a few searches with them and have gotten several decent job hits in my area. Maybe i will apply for them?...

At a further glance:
"Simply Hired is a vertical search engine company based in Silicon Valley, and we're building the largest online database of jobs on the planet. Our goal is to make finding your next job a simple yet effective, enjoyable journey. We can't always promise you'll discover your dream job, but we'll give you the best chance possible to get a bigger paycheck, a more considerate boss, or a shorter commute."

I will look more into them and report in. They have some pretty decent features offered when checking on jobs. For instance, I tried a search for Network Admin in Moreno Valley, Ca. A got back a few hits that had what I was looking for. Noticed this lil image too
, Thought Hmm, What are you for? Well its in regards to a place called LinkedIn. Basically Who do you know, and Do those people know anyone at said prospecting employer? [http://www.linkedin.com] Interesting, I must inquire further.

Wholy Crap Evil Demon Spawn!

Yea.. a friend (john) sent me the link for the Trailer... Just SmackDown-a-lisous... Sorry for that last comment, I appologize.
So the Rock will star as "Sarge" in the new G2M (Game to Movie) "DOOM". Yet another game storyline ripped to pieces. I mean, Its not the Rocks Fault, Im not bitching about him being in the movie, Although they could have picked someone else. But thats not the point of me posting at the moment. Granted that some G2M's or Even C2M (Comics) have had a Great out come, but still the Storyline has a tendincy to be mixed up.

Reading up on the Storyline for the movie Doom they give does it some justice, but the games storyline deals more so with Hell and its Demons, The Plot I read for it, doesnt state much for the Hell reference just something about a Portal to Earth.. Well We'll see, It was suppose to be released August 5, 2005. New Release Date: Oct. 21, 2005.

Burn, Flip, Burn .. Ahhh No Ink....

This is the Freaking Sweetest thing! that I have ever been waiting for, its Freaking PERFECT.. I stopped using labels a few years ago because it is just too damn expensive.

On January 4, 2004, HP announced an innovative new technology to address the problem of labeling CDs and DVDs.

LightScribe technology allows consumers to create silk-screen quality labels on their CDs or DVDs by burning text and graphics directly onto a disc, eliminating the need for adhesive labels.

However, this seems to be an older Technology, But has yet to really catch on. I went looking around on the web to see How much this will cost, i.e. Hardware, Software and media. Suprisingly this setup isnt all that expenisive. Below is a price list of Hardware, Software and Media for the Lightscribe technology.

HARDWARE
  • BenQ - Model #: DW1625 BLK OEM $ 59.99
    WRITE Speed
    DVD+R 16X
    DVD+RW 4X
    DVD-R 8X
    DVD-RW 4X
    CD-R 40X
    CD-RW 24X
    DVD+R DL 2.4X

  • HP - Model #: DVD640I $ 75.00
    WRITE Speed
    DVD+R 16X
    DVD+RW 4X
    DVD-R 8X
    DVD-RW 4X
    CD-R 40X
    CD-RW 24X
    DVD+R DL 2.4X
SOFTWARE
MEDIA
  • HP
    • 8x 4.7GB LightScribe DVD+R Media, 5-pack
    • Lightscribe CD-R 52x, 5-Pack
  • Memorex
    • DVD+R Light Scribe 10 Pack $ 13.99
    • CD-R 80 LightScribe 10 Pack $ 5.99
  • Imation
    • 700MB 52X CD-R 30 Pack Disc $ 19.99
  • Verbatim
    • 4.7gb 8x DVD+R 10 Pack Spindle $ 12.99
You can spend under $100 bucks to start out. Most of US already have the software, its just a matter of getting the Hardware and Media for it. The cost of the hardware is very cheap, the current regular DVD Burners match what LightScribe Technology Capable DVD Burners offer and at a cheaper price. Although, I did read that DVD Media for this technology are in short supply, they are still available and can be purchased online or in store. For me, I've been looking for this kind of thing for a long while, and It is perfect! I shall be investing shortly. And with that said, I'll surely update when I do.

"Its like Pandroa's Box, But I can use it!"

Borrowing from amateur astronomers, German researchers have developed a folding space telescope that collapses into the size of a large suitcase during launch but which unpacks to its full length once in orbit.

By collapsing that space, the team was able to reduce the DST’s volume during launch by 70% and its weight by 50% compared to other space telescopes with similar apertures.

Milky Way central nougat seen better now...

An artist's rendering of the Milky Way and its central bar structure, with the Sun's position noted. NASA/JPL-Caltech/R. Hurt (SSC/Caltech)

A new infrared survey that claims to be the most comprehensive structural analysis of our galaxy confirms previous evidence for a central bar of stars.

The bar is embedded in the center of the galaxy's spiral arms and cuts across the heart of it all where a supermassive black hole resides. The survey found that the bar is longer than thought and sits at a sharp angle to the galaxy's main plane.

"This is the best evidence ever for this long central bar in our galaxy," said Ed Churchwell, a University of Wisconsin-Madison professor of astronomy.

Sun plans to make all its software free

San Francisco (InfoWorld) - Stanford, Calif. -- Sun Microsystems president and COO Jonathan Schwartz on Thursday cited the company's plans to eventually offer all of its software for free as a way to build communities around its technologies.

"The net upside of that is we get more people engaged in our community," Schwartz said of Sun's plans while speaking at the AlwaysOn conference here.

Seems promising in that it will accomplish what they want it to do.

See, I told you Jim Bob, them Aliens been here...

Sundor worm spreads alien message, The WM97/Sundor-A worm will display an image of an Alien and some good words. Along with a nice message, it ever so kindly removes programs and some files for you, And if that wasn't nice enough it will even clean up you desktop (by hiding icons). And if you notice your AV software not working, that because the worm felt you didnt need it any more by disabling it.

It's been reported that you are very unlikely to be infected with the virus. "The Sundor-A worm has so far been remarkably unsuccessful at spreading its message to the inhabitants of planet Earth. Nevertheless, internet users should be reminded that it's important to keep their anti-virus protection up-to-date and always think twice before running unknown files on their computers."...

Brains... Brains...... Hey I can enlarge my....

Sophos launched a new automated service that identifies exploited and hijacked computers on business networks. Sophos ZombieAlert™ a new alert service that identifies computers on an organization’s network that send out spam. ZombieAlert adivsed service subscribers when any computer on their network is found to have sent spam to Sophos's extensive global network of spam traps, and provides rapid notification to customers if their Internet Protocol (IP) addresses are listed in public Domain Name Server Blackhole Lists (DNSBL). This information helps customers locate, disinfect, and protect these systems from future attacks.

“Aside from consumers, organizations such as educational institutions and government agencies are most at risk because they often have complex environments with remote and home users, which makes it far more challenging to provide effective security,” said Gregg Mastoras, senior security analyst at Sophos. “Our global network of threat analysis centers, provide around the clock visibility into new and emerging threats, including compromised computers. This alert service gives organizations the opportunity to remedy the situation and clean their systems.”

“Sophos is the first vendor we know of to offer an on-the-fly alert service that advises organizations that they are being used to host zombies," said David Ferris of Ferris Research. "This service is unique and very timely. I would anticipate that competitors would soon follow suit."

This is truely a good thing. I would love to be apart of this service, but I can not... Saddly, the company I work for is apart of the symantec AV group, Which in part isnt all that bad. However I would like to change over, but I know the powers above won't go for it, because the expenice. So I shall just pretend I have this service! Weeee.

Windows XP Flawed... Your kidding, Right?

Apparently not (note bad sarcasium), In announcement by Microsoft stated that Windows XP, 2000 and 2003 Server are open to DoS (Denial-of-Service) attacks through its Remote Desktop Protocol. Microsoft also stated that "Due to a flaw in the way Windows handles remote desktop requests, an attacker could crash a PC by sending a malformed remote request." This was confirmed last friday (7/15/05). They also said that a fix is on the way and no attacks of any kind using this flaw have been reported. Computers using services that have RDP enabled are vulnerable so, Microsoft suggests users to block port 3389, which is what RDP uses, And to also disable terminal services if the services are not required to be used.

NEW DRUG TO WIPE OUT Diarrhea (No pun intended)

It's the first Third World Drug Blockbuster! The Drug is marketed to the poor people of the world. So now Starving Marvin in Africa can have Diarrhea free days!
Last Thursday, Napo announced a deal with Glenmark in India to develop and commercialize Crofelemer as a pediatric and acute infectious diarrhea treatment. Napo signed a similar deal on June 15 with Asiapharm in China.

The deals bypass the typical pharmaceutical approach: Target rich people and charge a high price. Under that model, drugs typically are available in the developing world about 15 years after they've been introduced in premium-price markets like North America and Europe, when patents have expired or companies can afford to distribute excess drugs at a loss...

... Napo is also partnering with an American company, Trine Pharmaceuticals, to test Crofelemer as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, which affects 15 million Americans. Trine expects to report its results in early 2006
.

...Also, "anti-motility" drugs like Imodium slow down flow of material through the intestine. While this stops diarrhea, it also allows whatever toxin is causing the diarrhea to linger in the body longer, giving it an extra opportunity to infect its host. That's why children, whose immune systems are not fully developed, as well as adult patients with immune problems like AIDS, can't take anti-motility medications.

Crofelemer instead stops the flow of excess water, which makes it possibly the first effective treatment for children and AIDS patients.

Over 1 million children die from diarrhea every year in developing nations where water is often contaminated. And it's the top complaint of many AIDS patients, Berkley said.

Great break through for the trots. Didnt realize that this was an issue, and was a lack of this type of medicine.

The Loss of a Companion... A Family loved one...

Yesterday after getting home from work, Me and Karen took one of our dogs to the vet to see why she hasn't been doing well. For the past three or four weeks Shelia, Our Shar pei / Pit Mix, has was going through a time where she wouldn't eat and when she would eat, So she was gaining weight and loseing it. She was up and down with this, but never was as skinny as she has been the past few weeks. Along with a short of depression the past several weeks. Upon arrival at the Vet, we checked in She was very happy to be out, and took the ride to the vet well. He had been vomiting lately to, not being able to keep anything down, while vomiting up stomach fluids. So, the vet checked her out for the obvisous, worms, and such and nothing was found, so she took her for X-Rays, and she wanted to keep her there over night. So Karen and I headed home. We called them about 12 ish or so, may be about 1. And thats when the vet told us that Her kidneys were failing and in the final stages. So, we told our son DJ, what was happening and what we could do for her, and He was very brave about it, And wanted to put her to rest and allow her to feel no more pain. So at about 2:30 am and 3 am today she was put down, and this morning lay to rest at her home, under her tree.

Such a young age to have to fight a losing battle. Shelia was about a year and a month old. She came in to this family with loving arms and was picked up off the street. Our Vet tells us that the kidney failure started before we picked her up, And that going through old food she could have eatten somthing bad or posionous whcih would have started it all. This explains the weight loss struggle through the past year.

Shelia will be Missed Greatly in presence, But never in heart or memory, She will always live on.

Sasser Worm Trial Ends... German Court Convict creator

VERDEN, Germany (AP) - The teenager who created the Sasser worm that snarled tens of thousands of computers last year was convicted Friday on charges including computer sabotage and given a suspended sentence, a court official said.
Sven Jaschan, 19, was found guilty of computer sabotage and illegally altering data, said Katharina Kruetzfeld, a spokeswoman for the court in the northwestern town of Verden. He was given a suspended sentence of one year and nine months. Jaschan also must perform 30 hours of community service at a hospital or home for the elderly, but will not have to pay court costs. The teenager has told officials his original intention was to create a virus, "Netsky A," that would combat the "Mydoom" and "Bagle" viruses, removing them from infected computers. That led him to develop the Netsky virus further - and to modify it to create Sasser.

The sentence is a joke, Kinda like Martha Stewart's, but she served time. However he was under age when all this happened. We'll see what comes of him.

The wonders of Email and things you dont remember you sent to your-self.

So a co-work work comes in to my office and sits down next today. As I finish reading a post on networkingworld.com, I turn to him and ask Whats up? Here is the conversaion...

Me: "Hey [Person], Whats up?"

Him: "hey!, I need you to check out my Outlook. I can't open a file that was sent to me."

Me: "ok no problem."
[I figured that the secuirty setting in Outlook that prevents users from opening things was checked..]

Him: "Well, you need to do your thing and connect to my computer or get up and go to it."

Me: "Ok, Cool.."
[Im lazy, and dont want to move, mainly I was on lunch so.. Easy fix I do it at my post. So I connect to his pc via remote connection]

Him: "Ok, go to Outlook, and open it and then go to the message that reads.. [His name]. Now Open it, I cant open that file, Why not.?"

[I looked at the security tab, and it was set to allow one to open the file... I looked at the message and noticed the file name... Legs.zip, While I looked at it and noticed what it was he said... And I quote!]

Him: "I didn't send myself anything? especially not a file called Legs, I would have remembered that name."

Me: "You didnt send this to yourself?, So this isn't from your home email?"

Him: "no."

Me: "Ok, lets look to see whom it is from..."
[so i checked the headers of the email and it "came from" someone from penn state college, the same name as his.]
Me: "You know any one from this email or from that college?"
Him: "nope, I dont know any one from there"
Me: "... (In aw of his glory) And you would have opened it if you could have?"
Him: "Hell yeah, I would have opened it, Just by the name alone..."
[You can quote me on that answer too...]
Me: "..."
Me: " Really!..."
Me: "..."

Wow, What a pervert... Geez.. Thats Great thing to know... It's a good thing that he didnt have WinZip or WinRar, or XP for that matter, any uncompressing tool would have open the damn thing, And that would have been it, I know he would have ran the damn file too. Looks like someone doesnt get WinRar installed on his computer.

All In All with my curiosity I saved the file to my Flash drive, for a look at later. the name of the file is 'legs.zip' > "f22-013.exe", more or less just a trojan.. Which I dont know.. didnt look at it all that much... [Information on the File]

Comet Hunting!

Click for a Larger viewDeep Impact Kicks Off Fourth of July With Deep Space Fireworks
After 172 days and 431 million kilometers (268 million miles) of deep space stalking, Deep Impact successfully reached out and touched comet Tempel 1.

The mission was a success, Although I was still not able to go out and view it myself, I got home late last night and logged on to Space.com and Nasa.gov to check out any information on how the mission went. The shots are stunning, and spectacular. I know more or less that they have shots and information that they will not release as of yet, so I wait for more information about the mission.

Here are some links for photos and information they have.
